Karen G. Rowell has a Bachelors degree in Geriatric Social Work and is a specialist in her field. She is also a certified Residential Health Care Facility Administrator.
After seeing a need in the community for a "personalized" referral service, Karen has successfully developed and implemented this free service for those needing help in making relocation decisions. Karen has an extensive background in assessment of clients, developing care plans, family counseling, interventions, and discharge planning. She has trained staff and developed structured activity programs with special emphasis on programs for Alzheimer and dementia related problems.
In the past, Karen has worked closely with health care insurances and assisted in initiating health care funding (e.g. Medi-Cal) and other needed services.
Karen has planned and coordinated fundraising social events resulting in facility recognition in the community. She has worked very closely with health care professionals in the San Diego community as a patient/resident advocate while donating several hours in voluntary services as an ombudsman with the Area Agency on Aging and San Diego Hospice. She currently is a volunteer with the Alzheimer Association.
